An Orchestral Evening at Goldsmiths' Hall

Events Overview

A private concert experience for 120 VIP guests, delivered with careful venue sourcing and detailed event management. 

Lucy Claire Events was appointed by a private banking client to find a new London venue and manage the full delivery of a private orchestral evening in March. The brief required a space with exceptional acoustics, the capacity to host an orchestra of over 40 musicians, and elegant rooms suitable for pre and post concert receptions. 

Goldsmiths’ Hall provided the perfect setting. Its historic architecture, generous proportions and impressive Livery Hall created an ideal environment for both the performance and the guest experience. 

The evening began with a warm welcome from harpist Anwen Mai Thomas, who played on the grand staircase as guests arrived and made their way to the Drawing Room for drinks and canapés. After the reception, guests were invited into the Livery Hall for a one hour performance by the Southbank Sinfonia Orchestra, featuring solo pianist Alessio Bax and conducted by Simon Over, the orchestra’s Founder and Music Director. 

Following the concert, guests returned to the Drawing Room to enjoy bowl food and further drinks while mingling with the soloist, conductor and section leaders. The harpist continued to play softly in the background, creating a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. 

Earlier in the day, the orchestra had exclusive use of the venue for rehearsals and preparation.

  • AV & Furniture Coordination:   Arranged additional technical support and furniture as needed. 
  • Guest List & Security Liaison: Managed guest information and coordinated with venue security. 
  • Orchestra Liaison: Coordinated rehearsal schedules, catering and individual musician requirements. 
  • Beverage Logistics: Organised delivery of external wine and champagne on behalf of the client. 

Team Impact

This event required precision, sensitivity to the needs of professional musicians, and a strong understanding of how to balance performance logistics with guest experience. The result was a smooth, beautifully paced evening where both the orchestra and the guests felt well supported from start to finish.
